Little children, especially kids younger than 4 years old are in
a high risk of being choked by food, toys or objects. Kids at this age can't
protect their airways properly, sometimes they don't chew the food properly or
they will try to swallow the food whole. They can also try to swallow toys or
other little objects such as batteries or coins.
You should avoid giving your child small hard round foods:
• Hot dogs
• Nuts and seeds
• Chunks of meat or cheese
• Whole grapes
• Hard or sticky candy
• Popcorn
• Chunks of peanut butter
• Hard Raw vegetables
• Raisins
• Chewing gum
• Marshmallows
Always cut your child food into
little pieces (less than a pea size)
Never let your child walk, run, jump or play with food in his mouth.
Keep away little toys, toys that can break to little pieces, batteries and coins

Balloons are a leading cause of
death by choking in children below 8 years old! A child can inhale pieces of a
broken balloon and it can occlude his airways completely. Always supervise your
child when he plays with balloons
