[Vietnam] The modern ao dai

Fast pace of life in Viet Nam during the decades of integration and development witnesses the changes in the traditional ao dai. This does not mean that the traditional ao dai is disappearing from Vietnamese life. Yet, it is becoming more adaptable to these modern days.
The growing of the country day by day requires the need of changing and the ability of adapting. The traditional ao dai is not the exception. It is not because the design of the ao dai does not fit to the aesthetic point of view of modern Vietnamese. Actually, because the traditional ao dai is inconvenient in daily life, it must be “modernized”. Indeed, the design of the ao dai is no longer suitable for working or travelling on transportation. Moreover, the extreme weather in Viet Nam makes citizens uncomfortable when wearing the ao dai. Besides, it is wardrobe malfunction that causes to the fear of wearing the ao dai in daily activities. Thus, people change the ao dai in its designs and materials so that wearers find it more comfortable and convenient.[37]
The modern ao dai turned up several years ago. However, the ao dai was a concern of people who need to wear it as a uniform such as: teacher, flight attendance, receptionists. It was not until the end of the year 2016 did the modern ao dai become so popular with hundreds of new designs. It is modified in the collar, the sleeves or the length of two flaps. Furthermore, instead of wearing pants with the ao dai, people nowadays prefer to wear culottes and skirts inside it. Not only the change in designs, people also use different materials for the modern ao dai like silk, brocade fabric or voile fabric.[38]

Along with the wave of the modern ao dai, there is criticism about these transformation. People who want to reserve traditional value in the ao dai argue that the modern ao dai is miscellaneous. Mr. Duc Hung, Vietnamese famous designer, also raised his opinion about this issue: “I do assert that it is not the ao dai of Viet Nam. If we continue to advocate the trend of the modern ao dai, the traditional ao dai will be buried in oblivion…”.[39] In spite of this, there are still a lot of favor from Vietnamese youngsters to the modern ao dai.

Choking danger!!

Little children, especially kids younger than 4 years old are in a high risk of being choked by food, toys or objects. Kids at this age can't protect their airways properly, sometimes they don't chew the food properly or they will try to swallow the food whole. They can also try to swallow toys or other little objects such as batteries or coins.

You should avoid giving your child small hard round foods:
• Hot dogs

• Nuts and seeds
• Chunks of meat or cheese
• Whole grapes
• Hard or sticky candy
• Popcorn
• Chunks of peanut butter
• Hard Raw vegetables
• Raisins
• Chewing gum
• Marshmallows
Always cut your child food into little pieces (less than a pea size)
Never let your child walk, run, jump or play with food in his mouth.
Keep away little toys, toys that can break to little pieces, batteries and coins
Balloons are a leading cause of death by choking in children below 8 years old! A child can inhale pieces of a broken balloon and it can occlude his airways completely. Always supervise your child when he plays with balloons
Please share this information with your friends!

Have a healthy day!

[Vietnam] - The introduction - ao dai

The áo dài is a Vietnamese traditional clothing, now most commonly worn by women but can also be worn by men. In its current form, it is a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over trousers. Áo translates as shirt.[1] Dài means "long".[2]
The word "ao dai" was originally applied to the outfit worn at the court of the Nguyễn Lords at Huế in the 18th century. This outfit evolved into the áo ngũ thân, a five-paneled aristocratic gown worn in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Inspired by Paris fashions, Nguyễn Cát Tường and other artists associated with Hanoi University redesigned the ngũ thân as a modern dress in the 1920s and 1930s.[3] The updated look was promoted by the artists and magazines of Tự Lực văn đoàn (Self-Reliant Literary Group) as a national costume for the modern era. In the 1950s, Saigon designers tightened the fit to produce the version worn by Vietnamese womentoday.[3] The dress was extremely popular in South Vietnam in the 1960s and early 1970s. On Tết and other occasions, Vietnamese men may wear an áo gấm (brocade robe), a version of the ao dai made of thicker fabric.

Academic commentary on the ao dai emphasizes the way the dress ties feminine beauty to Vietnamese nationalism, especially in the form of "Miss Ao Dai" pageants, popular both among overseas Vietnamese and in Vietnam itself.[4] "Ao dai" is one of the few Vietnamese words that appear in English-language dictionaries.

[Bitcoin] - The future of Ethereum

The future of Ethereum

Considering everything that was mentioned so far, the reasons for Ethereum to be in the spotlight right now should be quite obvious.
And although at this point it’s highly unlikely for the coin to ever fade into obscurity, the speed and scope of its future growth will depend on many factors.
Yes, Ethereum gives the promise of unlimited opportunities. But whether that promise is going to be fulfilled, and to what extent, depends on how powerful the network will become, and how talented and creative will the developers of particular solutions be.

Experts’ opinions

To help you better understand what Ethereum is, we have decided to ask several experts in the field the following question: “ELI5: What is Ethereum?”
“Ethereum is the second Blockchain to pass a billion dollars of market capitalisation and deploy a secure amount of mining power. Like Bitcoin it is decentralised, but unlike Bitcoin it is not used as a currency as its supply of digital tokens (Ether) is not fixed. This is by design as Ether is used for creating smart contracts rather than as a currency.
In a world where corporation are all interested in Blockchains, Ethereum has become a decentralised Blockchain that they are more comfortable to use, even though Bitcoin is a lot more secure and has a longer history right now. When corporations realise that private Blockchains do not have much value they will be able to choose between Ethereum and Bitcoin (whose economics work very differently) to secure smart contracts.”
Simon Dixon, CEO BnkToTheFuture.com and Fund Manager Bitcoin Capital

"Ethereum relates to blockchains like java relates to relational databases: you store your data in the database and build your application in java. One of the key differences is that Blockchains and the ethereum platform are not running on one but several distributed servers. They offer some unique features like for example the fact that transactions in a blockchain cannot be reverted, whereas all databases offer transactions handling and rollback mechanisms."

[Bitcoin Beginners] - Why is Ethereum so hot?

Well here’s the short version: Ethereum is decentralized, like Bitcoin, but is capable of much, much more.
The way Bitcoin’s peer-to-peer network is decentralized and distributed, where every participant is a client and a server at the same time, allows for unprecedented increase in that network’s security and resilience.

In legacy systems, where the entire network is handled by a single server entity, it becomes a weak point, which may be exploited by potential attackers.
On the other hand, decentralized networks are:
  • Very resistant towards hacker attacks;
  • Have zero downtime, even if some of their parts go down;
  • Are not run by specific, limited number of people (having people in charge can cause additional problems, both intentionally and unintentionally, due to the notorious human factor).
In addition to all those characteristics, one of the most important features of blockchain and, by extension, Bitcoin is the integrity of data.
Records of every transaction ever made in the Bitcoin network can be accessed by anyone, are easily traceable to the pseudonyms of the sender and receiver (but not to their real-life identities), and are virtually unalterable.
Thus, nobody can trick each other, by, for example, spending the coins which they don’t actually have.
These advantages are very important for a payment protocol, but some developers have quickly realized that that utility doesn’t end with one simple use case.
Basically, any area, where you need to keep a registry of some data, can be made more secure and efficient with the blockchain:
  • Domain names;
  • Ownership records;
  • Business contracts, etc.

[Bitcoin Beginners] What is Ethereum?

What is Ethereum?

Ethereum is a platform for creation of decentralized applications running on blockchain, through the use of smart contracts.
Since its launch on June 30, 2015, it has been steadily gaining popularity. Starting from late January 2016, it has experienced a surge.
In March 2016, within less than a year of its existence, that growth culminated in Ethereum achieving a record-breaking market capitalization of over $1B.
Since then, the passions have subsided and Ethereum has declined a bit. However, the coin is now second only to Bitcoin on the cryptocurrency market capitalization list.

- The graphical representation of how Ethereum has been killing it
Bitcoin has undergone a similar explosion of growth in the late 2013 - early 2014, when its price has reached its all-time high. Launches of several hundreds, if not thousands of different kinds of alternative cryptocurrencies followed.

Some of those altcoins have managed to reach a certain degree of success, but none of them have achieved the heights of Ethereum.
The platform has even enjoyed Microsoft’s attention, when it announced the launch of Ethereum Blockchain as a Service (EBaaS) based on the Microsoft Azure platform back in November 2015.
Now the reader might be wondering: why did all of that happen?

[Hot trend] - Bitcoin Continues Running - Now Past $9,500

Bitcoin has continued its remarkable bull run over the weekend, with prices exceeding $9,500 on extremely strong volume. The market has been pushed by a number of critical news stories regarding the mainstream adoption of the cryptocurrency.
It seems that the market rise to this point has been the result of increasing adoption among individuals, as well as hopes of institutional increases. The rise in Coinbase user accounts (nearly 125,000 per day), as well as the hope for futures trading from two Chicago-based markets (CME and CBOE), appear to be the driving factors in the recent jump.

The future?

As the market has continued to run, the fears of a bubble in Bitcoin price have continued. Nevertheless, many investors see a substantial future increase coming as institutional markets begin to open.
 nearly at $10,000

- No ETF
- No way to purchase from your fidelity/vanguard account
- No way to purchase from your PayPal/square account ()
- No way to purchase from your local bank
- Mainstream/Institutional funds flow have barely begun

Bullish.

Additionally, increasing stability within the Bitcoin network will likely produce greater levels of adoption, both as a store of value and as a payment network. New payment platforms and businesses willing to accept Bitcoin will move the market forward as well.

[Health] - Cough medications – what you need to know

Cough medications are the most common medications in every pharmacy. In the USA, it's a 4 billion dollar a year industry, so these companies will do anything to convince you to buy their cough medication. There are so many different types of cough medications it can be very confusing for parents and even doctors to choose from. I have wrote in the past a few posts about cough medications and how they work.

In short – most of the cough medications are useless and may even have serious side effects in babies and children.

What you should avoid: 1. Avoid any cough medication which has more than one ingredient. (For example Ameflu, Toplexil, Theralene etc)

2. Anti-histamines (Aerius, Zyrtec Loratadine, Benadryl, Phenergan etc) are only effective against an allergy induced cough. They are useless in respiratory infections or Asthma.

3. Cough suppressants should be avoided in children (Medications to "stop" the cough)

4. Salbutamol (Ventolin) is a specific medication for Asthma. It has no effect in respiratory infections. If your child has Asthma – he should receive this medication only by inhalation, not a syrup! (Oral treatment is not effective and may cause significant side effects such as tremors, fast heart rhythm, loss of appetite and more)

5. Singulair is another specific medication to treat Asthma only. It has no effect on respiratory infections. It is only given to children with Chronic Asthma (Not for an acute attack)

What can you use without doctor's prescription:

1. Ambroxol (Halixol) is an excellent medication for productive cough of different causes. It has been proven to be effective and safe in many studies. It also has anti viral and anti inflammatory effects.

2. Prospan (Ivy leaf extract) is the only tested herbal medication for cough that has been shown to have benefits and is safe to use. It can be used for dry cough or in combination with Ambroxol.

3. Nasal washing (Sterimar, Physiomer, Xixat, Saline) is an efficient way to clean your baby's nose and give him relief. Proper nasal washing has been shown to improve infections and reduce the risk of developing Sinusitis. (There is no need to suction your baby's nose after proper washing)

[Vietnam] - Travel The beauty of Saigon in my heart!

I love all things that belong to Saigon. I like to look at Saigon in the night time or very early in the morning, like watching my beloved one sleeping peacefully and quietly. The beauty of Saigon night time can only be felt with all the heart of a loved one for this land although I'm not Saigoneer. In Saigon we rarely see the stars, because it seems that the city itself has become a star glowing every night. People say "Saigon is not sad" and "no sleep", because Saigon is always busy from morning to night, busy with work, busy streets with cars. The night of Saigon is more and more glamorous. Moreover, Saigon night is a sexy shirt under the lights to match the fun with friends, the dating full of love.

Some people asking me how am I feeling after many years living in this Saigon? From University time as well as some very first days trying hard to seek a job in this Saigon until this time being a citizen in this city is that making me remember so many beautiful memories where I spent my youth ages.

Saigon is home to children from all over the places from this country or other countries (this is maybe...YES) come here to study, work, living. Noisy traffic, busy roads, traffic jams often make the newcomers feel stuffy, scruffy. As you get used to the city, you can comfortably ride the crowded streets of cars, lots of motorbikes, crossroads, and turn into small alleys.... The Saigon road has many turns, like many roads of fate have brought people to this place. As ever, a non-Saigoneer or foreigner becomes more and more in love with this place as familiar as his soul. Loving Saigon every morning with friends for coffee or not coffee is not important, it is just an excuse for people talk together. Feeling excited watching the city wake up, radiant, reaching out in the sun full of pride. Each afternoon, go to the street food's restaurant along the road or Nhieu Loc's canal with the popular dishes, is the colorful story.

[Story] - Mirror & scar story

I was born and grown up at the small countryside in Vietnam. My parents were farmers. They worked every day from early morning until sunset. Although they did not have much time to talk to me in day time, my father was strict on my studying. He did not allow me to play with friends until I finished all exercises at school. Every night, he checked my exercise and my marks in each subject.

At that time, I was not an adult. I always followed up all things that he set up for me. One day I had a choice to select the college school and major to join the entrance examination. But he decided the school and major that I need to take part in. All things were settle.

He did not listen to me. I told him that I would like to learn more about art subject, join other school and the school that he forced me to join were over my ability. If I did not follow all, I would not have anything such as: foods, clothes, and money. How could I survive during this time when I did not know where I could earn money? I could not leave my family and home without money.

I were angry and shouted when he talked to me. This was the first time he and me argued. No one in family such as grandmother, mother and younger sister could not interfere. Finally, I could not do anything even my interest school. I saw myself in the mirror and hated myself.

Did you know what happened?

I beat this mirror many times until the mirror was broken. My left hand were blooding. My father did not say any word about my action. He kept very quiet and continue smoking. One year later, the broken mirror did not fix. My hand were not blooding. However, my left hand had scar.
I could not pass the exam and join his expected school. I learnt other school with his expect subject (not my interest major). This mirror was fixed after I had graduated.

After graduation, I can choose my interest job and have good career path. My father did not interfere anything. My father became older and had less talking to me. I did not apologize him but my scar always remind me about my action. I keep in my mind that everything can be solved and don’t make people (special my father) offended.
